Sabah and Johor Enhance Strategic Tourism Collaboration

Sabah: The Sabah Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment (KePKAS) is intensifying its efforts to strengthen interstate tourism collaboration through strategic cooperation with Tourism Johor. This initiative aims to not only invigorate the domestic tourism market but also serve as a crucial preparatory step for the upcoming Visit Sabah Year 2027.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sabah Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Jafry Ariffin emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating that it will facilitate joint promotional initiatives, the sharing of best practices, and the bolstering of Malaysia's image as a premier global tourism destination. Jafry highlighted that a recent courtesy visit by the Sabah delegation to Tourism Johor led to expansive discussions on cross-promotion, the development of new tourism products, and the enhancement of destination marketing strategies for both states.

The visit also included an official tour of Muzium Diraja Abu Bakar at Istana Besar Johor, which provided an opportunity to observe and learn about best practices in heritage institution management and the preservation of historical assets. Jafry underscored the importance of sharing expertise in heritage conservation and museum management, noting that the cultural sector is a key economic pillar that Sabah aims to showcase to international tourists.

In expressing his gratitude, Jafry commended the management of Tourism Johor and the museum curators for their dedication. He expressed confidence that this strategic partnership will significantly contribute to boosting tourist arrivals and driving economic growth in the country.
