RPM 2026-2035: Strategic Plan To Produce Quality Students Who Meet Higher Education Needs

Kuala lumpur: The Malaysia Education Blueprint (RPM) 2026-2035 has been formulated as a long-term strategic plan to ensure the national education system produces quality graduates who meet the demands of higher education and the evolving job market. The blueprint will be implemented in three phases, aiming to address both academic and infrastructural aspects of education.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Principal Assistant Director of the Planning and Management Sector of the District Education Office (PPD), Pahang Education Department (JPN), Mahadzir Omar, stated that the blueprint includes a 'quick win' initiative for the first two years, followed by a medium-term phase of three years, and a long-term phase spanning five years. The Ministry of Education (MOE) has delineated 13 key targets to be achieved over the 10-year period, focusing on student performance as well as education infrastructure.

Mahadzir emphasized that one of the critical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) is ensuring students achieve at least a grade C in core subjects such as Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics, and History. This KPI encompasses not only academic achievement but also essential support elements like physical facilities and teaching quality. Parental involvement is deemed vital for the plan's success, particularly in enhancing students' foundational literacy and numeracy skills.

Meanwhile, Pahang director of the Malaysian National Academy (AKM), Mohd Kamal Mohd Affandi, highlighted that the programme serves as an engagement platform to clear public concerns about the education reform's direction. The academy has initiated dialogues involving NGOs and community members to gather feedback and channel views to the relevant authorities. These sessions aim to ensure public understanding of the education system's trajectory and provide opportunities for constructive feedback, enhancing policy implementation.

Mohd Kamal noted that similar engagement programmes are being organized nationwide to ensure comprehensive dissemination of information on the RPM 2026-2035, reinforcing the government's commitment to a values-driven and inclusive education system reform.
