Royal Malaysian Air Force Awaits FA-50M Jets Delivery

Siena:The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) is on track to receive the FA-50M light combat aircraft as scheduled. These aircraft are manufactured by Korea Aerospace Industries, and Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin stated that the exact arrival date would be announced soon.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Defence Minister mentioned that the aircraft are expected to arrive either this month or next month, with no current indication of any delivery delays. This announcement was made during the launch ceremony of the Warriors' Fund Campaign 2026/2027, attended by several high-ranking officials.

In May 2023, the Ministry of Defence finalized a contract valued at nearly RM4 billion with the South Korean aerospace firm for the procurement of 18 FA-50 Block 20 light combat aircraft, designated as the FA-50M (Malaysia). This specific model is more advanced than those operated by the Republic of Korea Air Force and other countries such as Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia.

RMAF confirmed in June that two FA-50M aircraft were slated for delivery this month, with the remainder to follow in stages until March 2028.
