Kuala lumpur: The royal institution will fail if rulers can be 'changed by the month' and decisions are not made in accordance with the law and Constitution, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said. He emphasized that political interference not aligned with the wishes of certain quarters has resulted in instability within the institution.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar addressed the issue in Negeri Sembilan, highlighting the contradiction of those who vocally support Malay Rulers but attempt to remove them when decisions are unfavorable. He stressed the importance of adhering to the Constitution and legal frameworks, warning that frequent changes in rulers would undermine the royal system. Anwar asserted that the King acknowledges the legitimacy of the current Ruler, emphasizing the need for the Ruler to follow the Constitutional process rather than political influence to maintain state stability.

During the opening ceremony of the 41st Malaysian Chinese Cultural Festival in Kota Syahbandar, attended by Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong and Melaka State Secretary Datuk Salhah Salleh, Anwar reiterated these sentiments.

The Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) had previously issued a statement declaring the proclamation regarding the position of the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, dated April 19, as invalid due to non-compliance with the mandatory requirements of Article 10 of the Constitution of the State of Negeri Sembilan (UUTKNS) 1959. The AGC clarified that Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim and the State Executive Council lacked the unilateral power to terminate or vacate Tuanku Muhriz's position.

Furthermore, the Negeri Sembilan Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) reaffirmed that Tuanku Muhriz remains the legitimate Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan and Chairman of the DKU.
