RM44.83 Million Allocated for Farm Road Repairs in Sabah and Sarawak

Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Plantation and Commodities (KPK) has allocated RM44.83 million for 131 farm road repair projects in the regions of Sabah and Sarawak, covering the period from 2022 until June 30, 2025.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the ministry detailed that 92 projects were executed in Sabah, addressing 164.8 kilometers of farm roads with a budget of RM29.97 million. In Sarawak, 39 road repair projects were carried out, covering 90 kilometers and costing RM14.86 million.

These infrastructure initiatives have provided support to smallholders of oil palm, rubber, cocoa, and pepper in both states. The KPK communicated this information in a written reply posted on the Parliament’s website, responding to an inquiry from Oscar Ling Chai Yew (PH-Sibu) regarding its strategies to aid the plantation sector in farm road repairs.

Additionally, the ministry has forwarded an application to the Ministry of Economy under a special project initiative. This move is aimed at facilitating additional farm road repair projects under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP). The KPK emphasized its commitment to addressing the challenges faced by smallholders in the agricommodity sector across the nation, particularly in Sabah and Sarawak, who encounter difficulties in crop transportation due to damaged farm roads.
