Kuala lumpur: A total of RM3 million has been allocated this year to implement 22 water supply projects in Orang Asli villages under the First Rolling Plan (RP1) of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), the Dewan Negara was informed today. Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang highlighted the focus on upgrading systems, enhancing piping networks, and constructing tube wells.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, during the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) from 2021 to 2025, RM31.67 million was invested in 258 water treatment system projects in Orang Asli villages. Rubiah addressed a query from Senator Shahrol Wizan Sulong, stating that of the 853 Orang Asli villages in Peninsular Malaysia, 729 have access to clean water supply. Efforts to provide water supply to the remaining 124 villages are planned to be carried out in phases.
