Tanjong malim: The Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd (KLK) TechPark integrated industrial hub, with a gross development value (GDV) of RM3.5 billion, is set to create approximately 20,000 jobs across multiple skill levels in Tanjong Malim.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, KLK executive chairman Tan Sri Lee Oi Hian explained that the project, covering 607 hectares, will be developed in phases over the next decade, starting this year. The initial phase will feature BYD, an automotive manufacturer, as the anchor investor, with significant infrastructure work anticipated to be completed by the end of 2026. Phase 2 will include a specialized vendor park catering to the automotive and manufacturing sectors.
“Strategically located near the Automotive High-Tech Valley (AHTV), KLK TechPark offers industrial lots and ready-built factories supported by comprehensive basic infrastructure,” Tan Sri Lee Oi Hian stated during the groundbreaking ceremony of the KLK TechPark. The event was attended by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang and Perak State Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee.
Saarani highlighted that the KLK TechPark development aligns with AHTV’s goal of transforming Tanjong Malim into a global hub for the automotive and high-tech sectors. “It is centred on new energy vehicles and supported by a comprehensive ecosystem covering manufacturing, research and development (R and D), supply chain, and talent development,” he added.
He further mentioned that additional development projects are being planned for Tanjong Malim, including efforts to establish the National Automotive Testing Centre (NATC) in Sungkai, which is expected to attract further investments to the region.
