RM2.5 Million Allocated for Slope Restoration and Community Projects in Seremban

SEREMBAN: The Seremban City Council (MBS) has efficiently utilized an allocation of RM2.5 million from the Malaysian Road Records Information System (MARRIS) to restore a slope at Taman Bukit Berlian in Lobak, with the project reaching completion on November 9 last year. This effort is part of a broader initiative to address infrastructure needs following a landslide that resulted in the area being declared a disaster zone in 2022.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the slope repair work began on December 11, 2023, under the guidance of Seremban Mayor Datuk Masri Razali. In addition to this, another MARRIS-funded project was completed on November 12, which involved the repair of a drain embankment in the Tasik Jaya industrial area, Senawang, at a cost of RM1.1 million.

During a project handover ceremony in Senawang, Mayor Masri highlighted the construction of the Taman Kemuning Community Centre, costing RM317,548, which aims to serve the community’s needs. Additionally, residents have benefited from a futsal court valued at RM181,014, funded by the Economy Ministry through the People’s Facilities Initiative (IKR), further enhancing the community’s recreational offerings.

Masri emphasized that these projects are central to the local authority’s mission to improve residents’ quality of life. The Rukun Tetangga Chairman of Taman Kemuning, Shahrim Simin, 62, conveyed appreciation for the new community centre, a much-needed facility after years of holding meetings in inadequate spaces since their application in 2019.

Shahrim noted that the community centre will facilitate various activities, promoting stronger community bonds. Mayor Masri also announced that MBS has allocated RM1.8 million for constructing six community centers across different neighborhoods, with some already completed and others, like the one in Taman Sri Pulai, still under construction.
