Hang tuah jaya: The Hang Tuah Jaya parliamentary constituency is set to receive a substantial educational boost with an allocation of RM127,000 directed towards infrastructure upgrades and educational support for outstanding students and underprivileged groups across 34 schools.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Minister of Higher Education Adam Adli Abd Halim emphasized the government's ongoing commitment to ensuring equitable educational development. Adam, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Hang Tuah Jaya, detailed that 23 primary schools will each receive RM3,000, while 11 secondary schools will benefit from RM5,000 each.
Special assistance has been earmarked for specific needs, with RM10,000 allocated to the Sekolah Rendah Agama (SRA) of the Malacca Islamic Religious Department (JAIM) in Bukit Katil for acquiring ICT equipment, and RM15,000 designated for Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tun Syed Ahmad Shahabudin to upgrade its school hall.
The announcement was made during the School Infrastructure Contribution Ceremony and Hang Tuah Jaya Outstanding Student Awards, attended by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. Adam highlighted that investment in education extends beyond infrastructure, including ongoing support for students through tuition, educational aids, devices, and financial support, particularly in Hang Tuah Jaya.
Adam noted, "In the first year in the Hang Tuah Jaya parliamentary constituency, we spent more than RM600,000 on education, including contributions to schools, students, and infrastructure facilities. Now the amount has increased to almost RM1 million."
He further explained the government's focus on improving school facilities, with support from the Ministry of Education, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), and the Ministry of Communications. The goal is to empower youth through education, particularly in tertiary education, to meet the future demand for skilled workers. Educational assistance is thus extended to both high-achieving students and those from B40 and M40 families who require support to pursue higher studies.
During the ceremony, over 70 outstanding students were recognized, including those attending schools outside the area but originating from the Hang Tuah Jaya parliamentary constituency.
