RM1.25 Billion Disbursed by TEKUN Nasional to Support 66,992 Sabah Entrepreneurs Since 1998

Kota belud: The National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (TEKUN Nasional) has successfully channelled RM1.25 billion in business financing to assist 66,992 entrepreneurs in Sabah since its inception in 1998. This initiative underscores the government’s enduring commitment to bolstering micro-entrepreneurs in the region.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, TEKUN Nasional stated that RM95 million of the total amount has been distributed to 1,750 entrepreneurs in Sabah within this year alone. Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Ewon Benedick voiced his hopes that this financial aid would aid entrepreneurs in fortifying their operations and broadening their market reach.

“Hopefully, the entrepreneurs receiving funding today will use the allocation appropriately to further expand their businesses. Entrepreneurs who are still seeking financial resources for working capital may visit the nearest TEKUN Nasional office for more information,” Benedick remarked.

In a recent development, 10 entrepreneurs from TEKUN Nasional in the state were granted RM29,000 in financing during the TEKUN Financing Briefing held at Dewan Gopog, Tanginambur, Kota Belud. Additionally, TEKUN Nasional has set a target to support 40,300 micro-entrepreneurs across the nation this year, with an allocation of RM330 million announced in Budget 2025, which includes RM150 million earmarked for 5,300 entrepreneurs in Sabah.

Since its establishment 27 years ago, TEKUN Nasional has channelled RM10.76 billion in business financing to 606,049 entrepreneurs nationwide, illustrating its substantial impact on the entrepreneurial landscape of Malaysia.
