Sendayan: The Jalur Gemilang must be respected as a symbol of national pride and not turned into a tool that fuels racial division, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He emphasized that any mistake involving the Jalur Gemilang should prompt the responsible party to take appropriate action, whether in a government department or the private sector.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister made these remarks during the official opening of the armoured vehicle manufacturing facility of Mildef International Technologies Sdn Bhd (Mildef) in Sendayan. Anwar urged the nation to seize the opportunity during Merdeka month to uplift their spirits, honor the Jalur Gemilang, and foster a spirit of unity that can preserve peace and focus on uplifting the dignity of the nation.

The Prime Minister highlighted the significance of the flag as a symbol of national pride, insisting that it must always be respected. He called on all parties to strengthen unity and love for the nation in conjunction with the National Month. Anwar also reminded the people of the peace and stability they enjoy, attributing it to the continuous sacrifices of the security forces and enforcement agencies, which should always be appreciated.

Anwar further mentioned the importance of being vigilant and prepared, citing potential conflicts in neighboring countries. He pointed out that high investments, strong national growth, and a peaceful country are made possible by the efforts of the security forces. The Prime Minister underscored the necessity of remaining alert to prevent conflicts from spilling over into Malaysia, using recent regional conflicts as cautionary examples.
