Kuala lumpur: Residents in flood-prone areas have been urged to prioritize safety and remain vigilant as the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued warnings of continuous rain in several states from November 25 to 26. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi emphasized the importance of staying informed and avoiding dangerous areas, such as swift currents and overflowing rivers, especially for those residing in Perak, Kedah, Penang, Kelantan, Terengganu, Selangor, and Pahang.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as the Central Disaster Management Committee chairman, assured that relevant agencies are on high alert and are closely monitoring the situation. He advised residents to comply promptly with any evacuation instructions to ensure their own safety and that of their families.
MetMalaysia’s warnings have been categorized into different levels of severity. The danger level warning for continuous rain applies to specific areas in Kedah (Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Penang, Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Manjung, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk, and Hilir Perak), and Kelantan (Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Bachok, and Pasir Puteh) until November 25.
The severe level warning remains in effect until November 25 for regions in Perlis, various parts of Kedah (including Langkawi and Kubang Pasu), Perak (such as Hulu Perak and Kuala Kangsar), Selangor (Sabak Bernam), Kelantan (Jeli and Tanah Merah), and Terengganu (Besut and Setiu).
Additionally, an alert level warning for continuous rain persists until tomorrow for areas in Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron and Raub) and Selangor (Kuala Selangor and Hulu Selangor), while in Gua Musang, Kelantan, and Kemaman, Terengganu, the warning extends until November 26.
