The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, emphasized this point, highlighting research as a key catalyst for national progress and development, benefiting society while contributing to environmental preservation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra, in his capacity as Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), made these remarks while opening the Global Trends in Engineering and Science Technology Congress (GTEST) 2026 in Penang yesterday. He stressed the importance of ensuring that advancements in science and technology consider the environment and future generations, noting that true progress is measured by the extent of meaningful change that benefits future generations.
Meanwhile, the Raja Muda of Perlis expressed his appreciation to all parties committed to shaping UniMAP graduates who are not only knowledgeable and highly skilled but also capable of leading and contributing to the nation's future development. The international congress organized by UniMAP serves as an important platform for bringing together academics, researchers, engineers, and industry experts from around the world to exchange knowledge, explore the latest developments, and strengthen collaborative networks in fields of engineering, science, and technology.
The organization of GTEST 2026 further strengthens international ties through a strategic collaboration with the Tokyo University of Science (TUS), Japan, and incorporates several prestigious conferences, including the Western Belt Electronics Technology Conference (WESTAC) 2026, IQ-SITE 2026, and IC-BUSCLi 2026. At the event, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra witnessed the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between UniMAP and its strategic partners from the industrial and academic sectors.
These collaborations reflect UniMAP's continued commitment to expanding its strategic industry network, strengthening its research ecosystem, and ensuring that the university's expertise and innovations are more widely utilized. His Royal Highness also witnessed the presentation of research grant cheques from industry partners to UniMAP, supporting efforts to strengthen the university's research and development activities.
