Seremban: Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir highlighted in a recent address that strong cooperation within the Unity Government has led to significant achievements, particularly in the economic sector. The state achieved its highest-ever revenue collection of RM636.17 million, surpassing the RM520 million target for the third consecutive year, thereby transforming a budget deficit into a surplus.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, last year’s deficit of RM46.9 million turned into a surplus of RM83.07 million, significantly bolstering the state’s reserves in the consolidated revenue account, which increased from RM410.48 million in 2023 to RM493.55 million in 2024. This performance was attributed to the efforts of various revenue-collecting departments, especially the state finance and treasury offices.
Tuanku Muhriz expressed optimism about the state’s future as a leading investment destination, with RM7.25 billion in approved investments, including RM3.43 billion in foreign investment and RM3.82 billion in domestic investment. These investments are expected to create over 4,600 job opportunities. A notable project is the F and N Agrivalley Project by Fraser and Neave Holdings Bhd, involving a 2,726-hectare farm with an RM1 billion investment, poised to produce 200 million litres of fresh milk annually.
The project is anticipated to boost the local agricultural industry and create approximately 600 jobs, including opportunities for skilled labor. Additionally, a new initiative, the Negeri Sembilan Fast Lane (N9 Fast Lane), will streamline the approval process and offer efficient facilities for investors and entrepreneurs, facilitating smoother project execution.
Tuanku Muhriz also emphasized the ongoing development of Malaysia Vision Valley 2.0 (MVV 2.0) as a catalyst for economic growth, focusing on industrial area expansion to attract investment and create jobs. MVV 2.0 has significantly contributed to state revenue through land premium payments, with contributions from NS Semiconductor Valley, Techpark 3, and SPD Techvalley totaling RM110 million.
The state assembly sitting is scheduled to resume on Monday.
