Remains Of Two UPSI Students Killed In Fatal Bus Accident Arrive At Their Respective Hometowns

Besut: The remains of two Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students who died in the accident involving a bus and a multi-purpose vehicle on the East-West Highway (JRTB), Gerik, arrived at their respective hometowns tonight. The van carrying the remains of Muhammad Adib Hazim Halim, 21, arrived at Masjid Hadhari from Gerik Hospital, Perak at 10:45 pm. Nearly 300 congregants, comprising family members, friends, and local residents, joined the funeral prayers led by Imam Mat Jaih Namat of Masjid Hadhari.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, after the prayers, Muhammad Adib Hazim’s remains will be taken to Kampung Pasir Badak Cemetery in Hulu Besut nearby for burial. The remains of Wan Nur Suhaila Wan Muhammad, 22, brought from Gerik Hospital, arrived at her family’s home at 10:50 pm before being taken to Masjid Al-Mukhlisin Kampung Amer, Kampung Raja, Besut around 11:13 pm for funeral prayers. Residents, close family members, and friends of the deceased attended to perform the funeral prayers and pay their last respects at the mosque.

Meanwhile, the remains of 13 other students who died are now en route from Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB), Ipoh, Perak, to Masjid Hadhari for prayers before being buried in their respective hometowns. The convoy of vans carrying the remains of the 13 student victims left the HRPB Forensic Department for Jertih, Terengganu, at 8:55 pm and is expected to arrive at Masjid Hadhari at 2:00 am.

In the accident that occurred between 12:30 am and 1:00 am, 15 UPSI students died after the bus they had chartered from Jertih, Terengganu, to Tanjung Malim, Perak, overturned after being involved in an accident with a Perodua Alza MPV on the JRTB near Tasik Banding, Perak. The accident also resulted in 33 others being injured, including the bus driver and second driver, as well as the Perodua Alza driver and three passengers.
