ALOR SETAR: The Health Ministry has issued a reminder to operators of flood relief centres to prioritize food quality to prevent cases of food poisoning. Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad emphasized the importance of maintaining food safety and controlling flood-related diseases during the ongoing floods.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Dzulkefly highlighted the necessity of avoiding food poisoning and other flood-related diseases, while confirming that no cases of diseases like leptospirosis have been reported so far. He mentioned that monitoring for dengue might be needed post-floods and stressed the importance of transferring individuals requiring specific treatments, such as hemodialysis, to appropriate facilities.
Dr Dzulkefly expressed satisfaction with the current management of health facilities in the state, noting that operations are under control. He assured that the state health department would continue to monitor and enhance their services. He also mentioned that healthcare fa
cilities affected by the floods have been relocated to nearby areas to ensure uninterrupted treatment.
He expressed hope for improved weather conditions, both locally and in neighboring countries, to minimize flood impact. He added that MOH staff are prepared to assist facilities in need during the flood period, which may include deploying personnel to assist other states or districts.
The number of flood evacuees in Kedah has increased to 8,754 individuals from 2,671 families as of this morning.
