Reject Identity Politics To Secure, Sustain Success In Elections – Dzulkefly

Perak: Politics of identity that demeans other groups and exploits religion or ethnicity must be eradicated to ensure success and survival in elections, said Amanah vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad. Dzulkefly, who is also the Health Minister, emphasized the importance of moving towards a more inclusive and principled political approach to avoid divisions within parties or political coalitions.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dzulkefly stated that identity politics is a significant cause of internal divisions, making it crucial to reject narrow identity-based tactics that undermine unity. He shared these insights while addressing reporters after officiating the Perak Amanah Convention. Also present at the event was Perak Amanah chairman Datuk Asmuni Awi.

In relation to the upcoming 17th Sabah state election, Dzulkefly mentioned that negotiations were progressing carefully. He expressed hope that the party’s application to contest in five state seats would receive approval. Amanah vice-president
Adly Zahari had earlier announced that the application was submitted after discussions with the Pakatan Harapan leadership, as well as negotiations with Barisan Nasional (BN) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

The current 16th Sabah State Legislative Assembly is set to dissolve automatically on November 11 if not dissolved earlier, thus paving the way for the 17th state polls.
