Kuala lumpur: The public has been urged to refer any religious issues to the authorities to avoid confusion, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan. He emphasized the importance of consulting official bodies to ensure accurate and unbiased interpretations of religious matters.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Zulkifli highlighted that the Federal Territory Mufti Department's views are impartial and grounded in the Quran, Sunnah, and ulama muktabar, which refers to recognized religious scholars. He noted the proliferation of personal opinions on religious issues and urged individuals to rely on the official authority for guidance.
Dr Zulkifli made these remarks to reporters after participating in the MAIWP Run 2026. He was addressing concerns that arose when Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming used Islamic terms, leading to questions from opposition MP Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff.
In response to this issue, the Federal Territory Mufti Department clarified on Friday that non-Muslims may use Islamic terms in daily conversation. This is permissible as long as the terms are not used disrespectfully, do not contain insults, and are not misused.
