REAL Kids Encourages Children To Adopt Healthy Lifestyles, Explore The Art Of Kite-flying

Kuala lumpur: REAL Kids Holistic Preschool and REAL Schools Shah Alam Campus today organised the 2026 School-Level Kite Flying Month Programme to expose and encourage students towards a healthy lifestyle.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, REAL Kids Preschool Head of Marketing Shaun Tan said the programme successfully gathered about 150 participants comprising preschool pupils and lower primary students through activities involving arts and physical exercise. "The programme aims to broaden children's minds to see outdoor recreational activities as a healthier alternative while reducing dependence on electronic gadgets to fill their leisure time. Through kite painting and kite-flying activities, students are exposed to an environment that encourages social interaction and motor coordination, which are very important during their developmental phase," he said during the opening ceremony of the 2026 School-Level Kite Flying Month Programme at Galeri Shah Alam here today.

Earlier, Shaun accompanied Tourism Selangor Corporate Strategy Manager Halim Hamdan in officiating the event, which also featured the official mascots of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 - a pair of sun bears named Wira and Manja.

According to Shaun, the initiative also received strategic cooperation from the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (MOTAC) and Tourism Selangor to strengthen culture- and heritage-based activities among the younger generation. He said participants began the event with a kite-colouring session based on their own creativity before proceeding to Laman Budaya to learn kite-flying techniques under the guidance of REAL Kids instructors and their parents.

"Our early education approach always emphasises holistic development encompassing intellectual, emotional, social, and physical aspects in a balanced manner to ensure children grow up with strong resilience. Strong support from parents is key in shaping an active generation that is no longer fully dependent on digital devices in their daily lives," he said.

The programme also reflected the school's commitment to producing outstanding human capital through holistic learning modules that combine artistic elements with physical fitness, he added. The event concluded with a prize-giving ceremony for participants who created the most attractive kite decorations, as well as the presentation of certificates to all participants.
