Kuala lumpur: PKR vice-president Datuk Seri R. Ramanan has expressed disappointment with former party deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, alleging that the latter appeared to be protecting individuals linked to the 'corporate mafia' issue. Ramanan, who is also Human Resources Minister, questioned Rafizi's intentions, suggesting that he seems to be defending certain parties and criticizing the party in the process.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ramanan accused Rafizi of frequently blaming government agencies such as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and raising allegations of money laundering without a clear basis. Ramanan challenged any party, including Rafizi, to name him directly if they intended to link him to the issue, emphasizing his readiness to take legal action.
Ramanan remarked on the absence of concrete evidence linking any party MP to the allegations, questioning Rafizi's conclusions as premature and potentially divisive for the party. He noted that although he is not linked to the issue, he felt compelled to speak out to clarify the situation and prevent the creation of unnecessary suspicion.
Addressing Rafizi's past roles, Ramanan mentioned that as a former deputy president and minister, Rafizi's statements might be perceived as credible if left unchallenged. Ramanan emphasized the need for fact-based discussions, avoiding speculation and rumors that could create false narratives.
