Rakyat Digital Initiative Offers Free Courses, Strengthens People’s Digital Skills

Kuala lumpur: The Rakyat Digital initiative, led by the Ministry of Digital through MyDIGITAL Corporation, is launching a massive effort to enhance the digital literacy of Malaysians by offering various online courses for free. Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo stated that the initiative is a significant milestone in the country’s journey towards becoming an advanced digital nation, aligning with the goal of making digital capabilities and artificial intelligence (AI) the main drivers of economic growth and global competitiveness.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative follows the success of the AI untuk Rakyat programme, which saw participation from over a million citizens within six months. These users are now part of the Rakyat Digital initiative, which has expanded its offerings to include more free courses. Gobind highlighted that the initiative provides courses such as CyberSAFE untuk Rakyat, Generative AI, Cloud untuk Rakyat, AI Fluency, and Blockchain untuk Rakyat, with new courses like Data untuk Rakyat and Quantum untuk Rakyat to be introduced soon.

Gobind emphasized that the initiative brings together the government and industry partners from across the country, with contributors such as Cybersecurity Malaysia, Intel, iTrain, Microsoft, and Trainocate. These industry partners provide practical and interactive online modules to strengthen the nation’s digital capabilities, combining public sector leadership with industry expertise.

He noted that this collaborative model allows for cost efficiency, as industry partners offer high-value content for free, making high-quality training accessible to the public at no charge, thereby expanding reach and impact. Launched in December, the Rakyat Digital initiative offers benefits such as accessibility, inclusivity, flexible learning, and a seamless experience.
