Kuala lumpur: The Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, flagged off the Navy Run 2026 at Dataran DBKL today. The fourth edition of the seven-kilometre fun run, first introduced in 2023, drew a record 15,000 participants, with Tengku Amir Shah himself joining the runners and completing the race.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, also joining the event were the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) chief, Admiral Tan Sri Dr Zulhelmy Ithnain, Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud, and Lumut Naval Shipyard Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Azhar Jumaat. In a statement, RMN said the event was also streamed live and simultaneously participated in by navy personnel at the RMN bases in Lumut, Kuantan, and Kota Kinabalu.

"Navy Run is not just a running event, but a symbol of unity between the RMN and the people of Malaysia. When the public gets to know the navy more closely, it fosters trust, support, and a spirit of patriotism that serves as a pillar of our nation's strength," the statement read.

The event was further energised by a range of activities, including an aerobics session, performances by the RMN Central Band, a silent drill display, an RMN career exhibition, and a lucky draw.
