Kuala lumpur: The Association of Malaysian Media Clubs (GKMM) welcomes the government's decision to restore the basic quota of BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) programme from 200 litres to 300 litres per month starting September 1, offering significant relief to media practitioners.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, GKMM president Mohd Fauzi Ishak stated that the decision is especially beneficial for media practitioners in various states who previously faced challenges and increased expenses due to the reduced quota of RON95. This reinstatement aims to alleviate logistical costs related to commuting for work and covering events.

Mohd Fauzi emphasized that the reinstatement of the BUDI RON95 quota, as previously requested by GKMM, will help media practitioners continue to provide quality coverage and swiftly deliver information to citizens. He expressed hope that media companies and agencies would consider introducing new incentives or allowances to support practitioners amid rising costs.

He highlighted that travel and logistics are significant monthly expenses for many media practitioners, particularly those working outside central areas. The decision by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, announced during the National Day 2026 address at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, will enable more than 16 million consumers to continue enjoying subsidised RON95.

Previously, on March 26, the government had adjusted BUDI95 eligibility from 300 litres to 200 litres per month starting April 1, 2026, due to the conflict in West Asia, maintaining the subsidised RON95 price at RM1.99 per litre.
