Rafizi: Use Current Political Situation To Strengthen PKR In Sarawak

Sarawak: PKR members in Sarawak have been urged to view the current political situation in the state as an opportunity to regroup and strengthen themselves for future challenges. Incumbent PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli emphasized the need for party members to leverage this period to cultivate a new generation of leaders, given Sarawakians’ current preference for the existing state government.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Rafizi stated that this low point in the political cycle presents a good time to invest in the party’s future. He encouraged the development of new talent, believing that the political cycle will eventually turn in their favor. Rafizi delivered these remarks at the Hidupkan Idealisme Reformasi Dalam Ujian Kuasa (HIRUK) Tour programme.

Rafizi highlighted PKR’s potential to secure at least three parliamentary seats in Sarawak based on past election performances. He identified Miri as a stronghold and mentioned Kanowit, Selangau, and Puncak Borneo as promising constituencie
s. PKR has successfully retained the Miri parliamentary seat for three consecutive terms since the 13th General Election in 2013.

In the 15th General Election (GE15), PKR retained Miri and previously won the Selangau and Puncak Borneo seats, while narrowly losing Kanowit. Rafizi underscored the importance of addressing concerns raised by Sarawak members to ensure the party’s relevance, particularly by those elected in the party election on May 23.
