Kuala Lumpur:Criminal cases involving school students, including incidents within school compounds, were a key focus for Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia. This was during a meeting with delegations from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and the Ilham Seni Diraja programme.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the discussions at Istana Negara addressed the causes of social ills and strategies to mitigate risks and threats to students. Her Majesty highlighted the importance of understanding both the apparent and underlying causes of these issues and discussed modern measures to combat them.
The meeting also covered the latest developments in the Ilham Seni Diraja programme. The UTM delegation was led by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim and Registrar Datuk Dr Mohd Sharil Abdullah, along with three students. The Ilham Seni Diraja programme delegation included Ithnin Mahadi, Director of the Education Ministry's Sports, Co-curricular and Arts Division, and three participating students.
Among those present were Grand Chamberlain of Istana Negara Datuk Azuan Affendy Zairakithnaini, and Raja Zarith Sofiah of Johor Foundation CEO Hishamuddin Abd Rahim. The meeting also included child and adolescent mental health specialist Dr Noor Aishah Rosli and Universiti Putra Malaysia Faculty of Human Ecology senior lecturer Dr Murni Wan Mohd Noor.
