Doha: National squash ace S. Sivasangari and 2023 World Junior Squash Championships runner-up Aira Azman have successfully advanced to the quarter-finals of the Qatar Classic 2025 in Doha.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, seventh seed Sivasangari triumphed over Nele Gilis of Belgium with scores of 11-8, 11-8, 11-5, in a match lasting 34 minutes at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex. Sivasangari’s next challenge will be against second seed Hania El Hammamy, who overcame Jasmine Hutton of England with scores of 8-11, 11-6, 11-2, 11-9, after a comeback.
Meanwhile, 21-year-old Aira Azman took 29 minutes to defeat Egypt’s Zeina Mickawy, winning with scores of 11-8, 11-7, 13-11. Aira is set to face Amina Orfi in the quarter-finals. Earlier, Amina, the fourth seed from Egypt, defeated American player Marina Stefanoni with scores of 11-3, 11-7, 11-3.
The Professional Squash Association (PSA) squash tour platinum tier event offers a total prize pool of US$231,500 (about RM976,000) for both men’s and women’s categories.
