Parit buntar: A disabled woman was killed, while her mother was injured, after their double-storey home at Parit 310, Bagan Tiang, near Parit Buntar, caught fire early today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad stated that the department received an emergency call at 2.34 am, leading to the immediate dispatch of firemen from the Parit Buntar and Kuala Kurau stations to the location.
The fire resulted in the destruction of approximately 70 per cent of the double-storey house and also damaged a Proton Iriz car. Sabarodzi confirmed that a 48-year-old disabled woman was found dead inside the house, while her 71-year-old mother sustained injuries to both soles of her feet. The injured victim was handed over to the Ministry of Health for treatment, whereas the deceased's body was transferred to the police for further action.
In a separate incident, Sabarodzi mentioned that firefighters from the Bagan Serai station retrieved a man from a drain after the car he was driving skidded along Jalan Besar Bagan Serai-Taiping near Bagan Serai at about 2.30 am today. The Perodua Myvi car, driven by the victim, is believed to have veered onto the road shoulder before the man was thrown into the drain. The 30-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was also handed over to the police for further action.
