Putra Heights Fire: Selangor Govt Ready To Be Mediator In Insurance Claims Issue – Mb

Putra Heights: The Selangor government is prepared to step in as a mediator between victims of the recent Putra Heights gas pipeline fire in Subang Jaya and their respective insurance companies.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari announced that the state government is considering this mediation role to facilitate negotiations, which involve agreements between insurance companies and policyholders. He mentioned that a meeting with the state disaster unit is scheduled for this afternoon to address this matter.

Amirudin spoke about the issue during a press conference following the handover ceremony of the Raw Water Guarantee Scheme (SJAM) Package A and Package C. He emphasized the state’s willingness to assist but noted that fundamental issues would be prioritized.

The meeting will also address cases of victims who have not yet received housing rental assistance from the Selangor government, largely due to incomplete documentation. The fire incident on April 1 left many residents struggling with insurance claims for damages to their homes and vehicles.

Topaz Putra Heights Residents’ Association secretary Lau Cheng Chew previously reported that residents were dissatisfied with the low compensation amounts approved by insurance companies, despite their properties being subjected to high heat for nearly eight hours.
