Putra Heights: Initial financial assistance of RM5,000 to owners of completely damaged houses and RM2,500 to owners of affected houses, as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Tuesday, will be distributed starting next Monday.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari stated that the departments and agencies involved are currently completing victim data to ensure the smooth delivery of assistance to those affected. The process will be led by the District Disaster Unit or District Officer, collaborating with the Social Welfare Department (JKM), Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU), and PETRONAS, among others.
He emphasized that JKM and the State Health Department will be responsible for verifying the data on the number of affected individuals to prevent issues of misallocation or exclusion, particularly for residents in Taman Harmoni and Kuala Sungai Baru village. This was shared during a press conference after the State Disaster Management Committee Meeting, which included 39 state and federal government agencies and was attended by Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.
During an inspection of the incident location on Tuesday, the Prime Minister announced the immediate assistance and assured that the government, along with Petronas and the state government, would handle the restoration of the housing area. Discussions on appropriate relocation measures for the victims before they can return to their homes are ongoing.
The massive fire at 8.10 am on Tuesday resulted in flames rising high, producing heat and dust that destroyed rows of homes and properties, including more than 300 vehicles.
