Putra Heights Disaster: Dewan Camelia PPS To Close Tonight – Amirudin

Subang Jaya: The Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) at Dewan Camelia, Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ), which was opened to accommodate victims of the Putra Heights gas pipeline disaster, will close at 10 pm today. Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari announced the closure of the PPS, which has housed 60 people from 16 families, due to the aid provided by the state government, with several families already allowed to return to their homes.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the state government has begun offering housing options such as Airbnb and rental assistance. The process of relocating residents from the PPS to the provided units has commenced. Amirudin stated that the operations of the Masjid Putra Heights PPS, which currently accommodates 87 families, are expected to conclude this Sunday.

Amirudin mentioned that the Selangor Islamic Religious Council would provide food baskets for the families, sufficient for a month. He also noted that 270 houses had been confirmed as safe and ready for occupancy, allowing homeowners to carry out minor repairs immediately.

The recovery of homes for affected victims will be discussed with the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) on Monday. For homes with minor issues, the repair process will be determined, and if the damage is not significant, a standard contribution will be provided to them, implemented by the Recovery Committee.

As a gesture of solidarity, the state government, through the Selangor Prihatin Fund, aims to raise at least RM500,000 via salary deductions from members of the State Executive Council (MMKN), state assemblymen, and civil servants in Grade 48 and above. MMKN members will contribute RM1,000 from their salaries, all state assemblymen, including those from the opposition, RM200, and civil servants in Grade 48 and above RM50, to assist in the recovery process planned by the state government.
