Klang: The Pulau Indah Power Plant (PIPP), located in Klang, has officially entered commercial operation as of March 1, marking a significant milestone four years after its development. This was announced by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, who shared this update through his Facebook account.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the successful commencement of PIPP’s operations is attributed to the relentless efforts and dedication of the entire PIPP team and Worldwide Holdings Berhad (WHB). Amirudin expressed his gratitude on social media upon receiving confirmation from WHB Group CEO Datin Paduka Norazlina Zakaria about the plant’s operational status. He lauded the collaborative efforts of PIPP and WHB teams in achieving this milestone.
The 1,200-megawatt gas turbine power plant was developed jointly by Worldwide Holdings Berhad and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), with the project incurring a cost of RM3.3 billion. The Menteri Besar highlighted the significance of the plant’s operation in promoting sustainable energy within Malaysia.
With PIPP now operational, it is projected to generate RM1.6 billion in revenue in the coming year. Amirudin emphasized the plant’s potential in bolstering the state’s economic and energy sectors, expressing hope that this success would yield additional benefits for the state and its residents.
