Public Urged to Report Insulting Social Media Content to Authorities

Krubong:The public is being advised against spreading social media content that insults, provokes, or incites hostility over religion, race, and the royal institution, commonly referred to as 3R. Instead, they should report such content to the authorities for further action.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil emphasized that resharing such content could increase its reach and view count on social media. He urged the public not to spread, reshare, or give views to such content, but rather to file a police report or lodge a complaint with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). Both agencies are prepared to take immediate action.

Fahmi made these remarks after officiating at the MADANI Kita Programme 2026 with the Paya Rumput@Tangga Batu community at the Krubong People's Housing Project. The programme was organized by the Community Communications Department in collaboration with the Prime Minister's Office and the Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit.

The minister was responding to a social media post by influencer Lim Sian See, who questioned the use of the word 'lighad' in a speech by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Fahmi stated that the police and MCMC are investigating the matter and have identified the individual involved. Further actions will depend on the investigation's findings and the prosecution's consideration.
