Kuala lumpur: The public is encouraged to attend the National Innovation and Commercialisation Expo (NICE 2025) from October 6 to 9 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur to contribute to Malaysia’s future development.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) Minister Chang Lih Kang emphasized that NICE 2025 will provide a platform for researchers, startups, corporations, and young innovators to not only showcase technologies but also form partnerships, make deals, and inspire Malaysians. Minister Chang highlighted the expo’s appeal to a diverse audience, including students, entrepreneurs, and curious citizens, underscoring the collaborative nature of innovation beyond just government initiatives.
Minister Chang stated that alongside NICE 2025, MOSTI will introduce the National Research, Development, Innovation, Commercialisation and Economy (RDICE) Action Plan (2025-2030). This plan aims to integrate research, development, innovation, commercialisation, and entrepreneurship into a unified strategy. He stressed the importance of a collective national effort, involving ministries, companies, universities, and communities, to drive meaningful innovation.
Additionally, Minister Chang clarified that innovation extends beyond gadgets, focusing on how ideas can improve lives. He highlighted the need for R and D to produce tangible products and services that create jobs and solve societal challenges. Minister Chang acknowledged the difficulties faced by researchers and startups, particularly in securing industry partners and funding, and expressed a commitment to addressing these issues by fostering a more supportive environment for innovation.
To bridge these gaps, the government is implementing initiatives such as the National Technology and Innovation Sandbox (NTIS) for testing new technologies and the Global Innovation Exchange (GIX) for accessing international markets. Under the 13th Malaysia Plan (MP13), there is a concerted effort to sharpen the national focus on R and D and innovation.
