PTPK Funding for Students Continues Uninterrupted, Assures Deputy Minister

Kuala lumpur: The Skills Development Fund Corporation (PTPK) continues to provide financial support to students, including those from low-income (B40) families, as confirmed by Deputy Minister of Human Resources Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad. He addressed concerns regarding the halting of aid, stating that such allegations are unfounded.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abdul Rahman clarified that PTPK has maintained its funding commitments, issuing a media statement on September 11 to dispel the misinformation. By August 2025, PTPK had approved loans and active financing commitments amounting to RM524 million, benefiting 52,098 students enrolled in 306 training centers.

He further explained that in 2025 alone, 21,947 students had their loans approved. These students continue to receive financing and living allowances, which have been increased from RM400 to RM800 per student, ensuring continued support.

The clarification came in response to a query from Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Abd Muttalib (PN-Maran) about claims of discontinued living allowances affecting B40 students. Abdul Rahman emphasized that the 2025 funding prioritizes skills programs aligned with high-growth, high-value (HGHV) sectors and industries, in accordance with the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030). These sectors include maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), electric vehicles (EV), aerospace, and artificial intelligence (AI).

He also outlined that future PTPK funding will focus on high-impact programs, loan repayment performance, and adherence to application requirements, including appeals and post-training employment placement.

In terms of employability, Abdul Rahman noted that nearly all students who completed training under PTPK have secured employment, with only a small number opting to remain unemployed while seeking roles better aligned with their qualifications.
