Kuala lumpur: National carmaker Proton Holdings Bhd expects its newly launched Proton Saga MC3 model to become the leading A-segment model in the ASEAN market next year. Its chief executive officer, Dr Li Chunrong, said the MC3 has received more than 30,000 bookings since its launch last week.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, commenting on Proton’s electric vehicle (EV) line-up, Dr Li Chunrong stated that the e.MAS 7 has become Malaysia’s best-selling EV in 2025, following its launch in June 2024, with 8,239 units sold as of November 2025. Proton e.MAS 5 was noted as Malaysia’s first affordable EV, achieving more than 10,000 bookings in a short time. Dr Li emphasized that the e.MAS is central to Proton’s EV roadmap, expressing confidence that the brand will soon become Malaysia’s number one EV brand.
During the Proton Technology Showcase event, Dr Li shared insights into Proton’s technological advancements. The showcase offers visitors an opportunity to explore the technology driving Proton’s models. The group highlighted that the event gathers the company’s significant engineering achievements, providing access to the latest breakthroughs in electrification, powertrain development, and intelligent connectivity.
Among the display highlights are the global modular architecture (GMA) platform, Short Blade Battery, and Proton’s latest Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) engine and transmission. The showcase also includes connectivity exhibits by Aco Tech Sdn Bhd, featuring augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. Proton’s newest models, such as the Proton X50, Proton e.MAS 5, and the all-new Proton Saga, are on display, alongside a model set to debut publicly before its launch in early 2026.
