Accra:The 13th PropertyGuru Asia Awards Malaysia, in collaboration with iProperty, celebrated outstanding achievements in the Malaysian property sector, recognizing developers and projects across 62 award categories. The event, highlighted by the theme 'Defined by Excellence,' was presented by Lim Soh and Goonting Advocates and Solicitors. According to BERNAMA News Agency, PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards managing director Jules Kay emphasized the awards' role in showcasing quality developments across Asia. He noted that these awards serve as a benchmark for excellence and innovation, instilling confidence among buyers, investors, and renters in the quality of products released in these markets. The awards recognized a wide array of property types from different regions in Malaysia and included special categories such as the Consumer Demand Awards, People's Choice Awards, and Consistency Awards. Notable individual recipients included Sunway Group founder and chairman Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah, who received the Life Achievement Award, and Sime Darby Property Bhd group managing director and CEO Datuk Seri Azmir Merican, named Real Estate Personality of the Year. Other honorees were Paragon Globe Bhd executive chairman Datuk Seri Edwin Tan Pei Seng, who received the Rising Star award, and Kuok Group property division (southern) CEO Maggie Ng Mui Kit, who was awarded the Woman Changemaker Award. Kay mentioned that the credibility of the awards is maintained through the contributions of 13 independent industry experts involved in the judging process. These experts ensure that the best projects and developers in Malaysia are recognized each year. He also announced that Malaysia's top winners would compete at the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final in Bangkok in December, where they will contend with developers and properties from various regions, including Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, and Hong Kong. Kay expressed hope that Malaysia would emerge as one of the biggest international winners, as it did the previous year.
