Procurement Overlooked for AI Investment Despite Clear Potential for Transformation

Bangkok: While AI adoption is accelerating across industries, the procurement function is lagging behind due to underinvestment, according to new data in SAP Taulia’s AI in Procurement Report¹. The new data finds that globally, only 35% of leaders are prioritising procurement and supply chain management as an area for AI investment and growth, leaving procurement trailing behind finance (43%), data analytics (39%), and cybersecurity (38%).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the report highlights a significant gap in AI investment that could impede the transformation of procurement processes. The lack of prioritization in leveraging AI technologies within procurement may lead to missed opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings. As industries increasingly embrace AI to enhance operations, the report suggests that procurement leaders need to reassess their strategies to remain competitive and capitalize on AI’s potential benefits.
