Kuala lumpur: The investigation into the alleged forced withdrawal of young sprinter Danish Irfan Tamrin from last year's Thailand SEA Games is expected to be completed within two weeks, Investigation Committee chairman Datuk Salim Parlan said. He announced that 13 individuals have been called to assist in the probe, which began on January 6, with the final statement being recorded on January 14.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Salim Parlan stated, 'We have recorded statements from all individuals involved and are now preparing the investigation report on this case.' He mentioned that the findings will be submitted to the Malaysia Athletics president before being forwarded to the Youth and Sports Minister for further action.
Earlier media reports indicated that Danish Irfan was allegedly coerced into writing a letter claiming he was injured, a claim said to be false. The alleged incident reportedly occurred after Irfan clinched the silver medal in the 100-metre event at the ASEAN Schools Games (ASG) with a time of 10.61 seconds, which qualified him to represent the country. This timing placed him among the top four athletes considered for selection in the 4x100m relay event at the SEA Games.
