Kota Bharu: A private company will manage the Ramadan Bazaar at Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium this year after the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) withdrew from organizing the event due to operational challenges. Kelantan Stadium Corporation board member, Zamakhshari Muhamad, confirmed the change in management following FAMA’s withdrawal.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the corporation received a letter from FAMA on January 22, announcing its decision to step back from organizing both the Ramadan Bazaar and Pasar Tani. In response, the corporation accepted an application from a private company on January 26 to assume control over the bazaar’s operations.
The private company will now be responsible for leasing and managing the Zone B parking area at Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium for the Ramadan Bazaar this year. It will handle various operational aspects, including overseeing the 160 stalls, of which 157 have already been rented. The new stalls measure 10×10 feet, providing more space than the previous, smaller stalls under FAMA’s management.
Zamakhshari noted that the new rental fees set by the company include utilities, tables, and amenities, distinguishing it from FAMA’s previous setup. The company also plans to host events, such as a competition for the best and cleanest stalls, to enhance the bazaar experience.
