Prime Minister Praises Malaysian U-17 Women’s Football Team’s Determination

Selayang:Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim commended the national U-17 women's football squad for their determination, despite not qualifying for the 2027 U-17 Women's Asian Cup. The team faced a 4-0 defeat against India.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, The Prime Minister highlighted the team's commendable spirit, effort, and courage throughout the tournament. He encouraged the squad to use this experience as motivation for future success and urged them to keep moving forward.

The national team's hopes of making history by qualifying for the final round in China were dashed after the loss in their final Group E match at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium. However, the squad had shown promise with a 1-0 victory over Syria and a 4-0 win against Iraq earlier in the qualifiers.

Under the tournament's format, the eight group winners will advance to the final round, joining North Korea, Japan, Australia, and host nation China, who have already secured their spots. The final round is scheduled for March 31 to April 17, 2027.
