Prime Minister Appoints Three New Members to JKMR to Enhance Governance

Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced the appointment of three new members to the Special Committee on Corruption (JKMR), aiming to bolster public confidence in the government’s commitment to improving integrity and governance.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, in a recent Facebook post, Anwar highlighted the pivotal role the committee serves in advising the Prime Minister on corruption-related issues and in reviewing the Annual Report of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). He expressed hope that the inclusion of these members would reinforce public trust in the government’s initiatives to promote integrity and governance, aligning with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI, which prioritizes transparency and accountability in national administration.

In a ceremony at the Parliament building, Prime Minister Anwar presented the appointment letters to the new JKMR members: Senator Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, Senator Datuk Seri Prof Emeritus Dr Awang Sariyan, and Langkawi Member of Parliament Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah. The event was witnessed by MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki. The appointments are set for a three-year term, commencing on April 25, 2025, and concluding on April 25, 2028.
