Prime Minister Anwar Unveils MADANI Budget 2027 Focusing on Social Justice

Accra:The MADANI Budget 2027 aims to ensure comfortable living and social justice for all Malaysians through a development approach that caters to the needs of every group, according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar, who also serves as Finance Minister, emphasized that the government is addressing not only macroeconomic indicators and strategic sectors but also the daily needs of citizens, including pet owners, persons with disabilities, gig workers, and delivery riders. He noted that the ultimate goal of any planning is to provide a comfortable life and a fair environment for everyone.

While acknowledging that Budget 2027 may not solve all problems, Anwar stated that the government's measures aim to alleviate the people's burdens. He highlighted the importance of understanding the challenges faced by rural communities, such as padi farmers and coastal fishermen, who encounter income constraints and lack access to certain facilities. Anwar mentioned the need for a balanced solution to support fishermen's livelihoods without compromising fishery resource sustainability.

The efforts outlined in the budget are part of a broader agenda to enhance living standards and promote social justice for all citizens. Anwar reiterated that the MADANI Economy framework will integrate high-impact development goals with the people's basic needs, aligning with the budget's theme, "Reaching for the Skies, While Anchored on Our Values."

Anwar stressed the importance of ensuring that economic progress is not only reflected in macro achievements but is also experienced in the daily lives of Malaysians. The government will continue to listen to public concerns to ensure that policies and allocations in Budget 2027 meet current needs. Every detail in the budget is designed to contribute to a more comfortable, fair, and dignified life for all.

The Supply Bill (Budget) 2027, tabled by Anwar, includes a government allocation of RM459.8 billion, supported by RM25 billion in investments from government-linked investment companies, RM11 billion in public-private investments, and RM14.2 billion from federal statutory bodies and Minister of Finance (Incorporated) companies. This brings the total expansionary fiscal package to RM510 billion. The budget aims to translate economic growth into tangible benefits through better wages, efficient targeted support, stronger fiscal discipline, and steps towards higher-value industries.
