Price Display Protest: Health Minister to Review Demands In Memorandum

Putrajaya: Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad has given an assurance that he will review every demand in the memorandum submitted by those who took part in today’s gathering to protest against the mandatory drug price display ruling.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad expressed his awareness of the rally held in Putrajaya, emphasizing the importance of thoroughly considering the demands outlined in the memorandum. “I will certainly get their memorandum. I will study every one of their requests,” he stated to reporters after attending a significant event involving the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Ministry of Health (MOH). This event marked the Implementation of the School-in-Hospital (SDH) Programme and the launch of the SDH programme at the Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital.

Earlier reports highlighted that doctors and private medical practitioners convened to protest against the enforcement of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 (Act 723). The central issue was the new ruling mandating private clinics and pharmacies to display the prices of medicines, effective from May 1.

The group reportedly began dispersing in stages from 11.30 am onwards, following the submission of their memorandum to a representative from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) at Bangunan Perdana Putra.
