Preserve Harmony, Diversity As Nation’s Identity – Ahmad Zahid

Kuala lumpur: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi emphasized the importance of preserving Malaysia's harmony, which is rooted in mutual respect and unity, as a cornerstone of the nation's identity.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid highlighted in a post on his X account that these values are crucial for maintaining peace and stability for future generations. He noted that cultural and religious diversity are key foundations shaping the nation's identity, and understanding these differences strengthens the sense of unity within the society. In his message, Ahmad Zahid extended Thaipusam greetings to Hindu devotees and expressed hope for continued unity to keep Malaysia peaceful and prosperous.

Meanwhile, several Cabinet ministers took to social media to share their Thaipusam greetings. Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan described Thaipusam as a spiritual journey imbued with faith, perseverance, and sacrifice, offering blessings and renewed hope to devotees. He emphasized the celebration of cultural diversity as a foundation of the nation's strength and appreciated the efforts of security personnel and volunteers ensuring a smooth celebration.

Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo expressed his hope that the celebration would inspire reflection on devotion and perseverance, reinforcing the idea that challenges can be overcome with faith and determination. Deputy Minister of National Unity R. Yuneswaran remarked that Thaipusam reflects the beauty of Malaysia's plural society and stressed the importance of preserving harmony through mutual respect and understanding.

The Ministry of National Unity, through Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa (YSS), launched the MADANI Unity Squad for the first time in conjunction with the celebration. The squad, consisting of volunteers from various ethnic backgrounds, contributed to the smooth flow of the event at Batu Caves, symbolizing unity and togetherness among Malaysians.
