Preparations Underway for 2025 HAWANA Campus Tour Closing Ceremony at PIS

Pasir gudang: Preparations for the Closing Ceremony of the 2025 National Journalists' Day (HAWANA) Campus Tour with Polytechnic Students, set to take place at Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan (PIS) in Pasir Gudang tomorrow, are progressing smoothly. Final touches are being applied to ensure the event's success.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Malaysian National News Agency Chief Executive Officer and HAWANA 2025 Working Committee Chairperson, Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, confirmed that meticulous preparations, including technical setups and rehearsals, have been undertaken by Bernama staff since early morning.

'The Bernama team has been gathered at PIS since morning to prepare for the 'HAWANA 2025 Campus Tour with Students' at the Polytechnic level, which also serves as the closing event for the HAWANA 2025 celebrations. Looking at the preparations and rehearsals conducted, Insya-Allah (God willing), I am confident this event will achieve its goal of sharing communication-related insights with polytechnic students,' she stated during a meeting at PIS.

Present at the preparation site were Editor-in-Chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, Acting Deputy Editor-in-Chief Mohd Shukri Ishak, Head of Management Services and Finance Sharifah Zaini Syed Zain, Head of Strategic Planning Harlina Samson, Head of Commercial Department Mastura Hassan, and Head of Corporate Strategy Mariati Mohd Arif. PIS Deputy Director of Academics, Tengku Nadzion Tengku Ibrahim, who is also performing the duties of PIS Director, was also in attendance.

Nur-ul Afida explained that the ceremony, initially planned for last December, was postponed to January due to examination schedules and semester breaks. Over 500 students from four polytechnics and two community colleges are expected to attend the event.

As a gesture of support for educational institutions, Bernama will present a smart television set to each participating institution. This initiative is part of Bernama's role as the implementing agency under the Ministry of Communications.

For future plans, Nur-ul Afida revealed that preliminary work for HAWANA 2026 has already begun, with similar programs set to expand to other polytechnics and Public Higher Education Institutions (IPTA). She also mentioned the enforcement of the Online Safety Act 2025 (ONSA), expressing Bernama's potential role in assisting the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in sharing relevant information. Additionally, she emphasized the career prospects for polytechnic graduates within the media industry.
