Selangor: The preliminary findings into Tuesday’s gas pipeline fire in Putra Harmoni, Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, will be revealed tomorrow, said Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari. He disclosed that Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan would present a detailed update, addressing both the technical causes and potential negligence or criminal factors behind the incident.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the technical investigation is being conducted by several agencies, including the Public Works Department (JKR), the Occupational Safety and Health Department, Petronas, and other technical bodies, while the police are looking into any criminal or negligent actions. Amirudin stated, “We need to allow the investigation to unfold thoroughly. Once completed, we will ensure full accountability and improve our procedures moving forward,” during a press conference at the Selangor State Secretary (SUK) building.
Amirudin mentioned that the report is expected tomorrow after the 72-hour initial response period, with findings from Hussein and his team on the scope, analysis, and results of the investigation. The investigation team will also review viral videos circulating on social media about the fire. If necessary, authorities may contact those who posted videos for further verification.
“We have taken note of all clips, videos, reports, and information. We will call upon all involved parties and this will be communicated starting tomorrow by the state police chief,” he stated, acknowledging that 108 police reports had already been filed in connection with the fire.
Amirudin highlighted that daily briefings on the incident are being held by his office and the police, with updates on overall decisions being provided. Specific details on criminal, negligent, or technical aspects will be presented by the relevant agencies. The fire, which started at 8.10 am, caused significant damage to homes and over 300 vehicles, though no fatalities have been reported.
