Kuala lumpur: Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) is in the final stages of finalising agreements for the development of eight people's housing projects based on the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) concept. Prasarana president and Group chief executive officer Amir Hamdan announced that these projects are strategically located along the Ampang Line and Kelana Jaya Line corridors.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, some of the projects have already commenced, including those in Ara Damansara and Rivera, while others are still in the final stages of being finalised. Amir Hamdan highlighted that these initiatives involve collaboration with several entities, such as the Railway Assets Corporation (RAC) and Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp). Consequently, a number of issues are still under discussion before the agreements are concluded.
"To date, we have held several rounds of discussions with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Transport. We will work to expedite these projects," Amir said during a media briefing following the launch of the Prasarana Sustainability Report 2024/2025 at Menara Prasarana. He was addressing the directives of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who on June 28, urged that Prasarana-owned land near public transport stations be utilized for people's housing projects under the TOD concept.
The Prime Minister emphasized that development in key areas near transport stations such as the Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) should also cater to the needs of adequate parking facilities and business spaces for small and medium entrepreneurs.
