Kelantan: The Irrigation and Drainage Department’s National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (PRABN) has issued a warning that more than 100 low-lying areas across five districts in Kelantan are expected to face flooding from today until November 30.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the warning follows the continuous heavy rain alert issued by the Meteorological Department on November 24, along with predictions that several major rivers will exceed the danger level. The districts expected to be affected include Gua Musang, Kuala Krai, Machang, and Tanah Merah, focusing on villages within a five-kilometre radius of the Sungai Kelantan Basin.
In Gua Musang, areas at risk include Kampung Jeram Tekoh and Kampung Limau Kasturi. In Kuala Krai, the alert covers extensive low-lying settlements such as Kampung Mambong, Kampung Pahi, Kampung Bahagia, Kampung Bekok, Kampung Cheneh, Kampung Batu Mengkebang, Kampung Sungai Pas, Kampung Temalir, Dusun Damar, and Taman Perisai Wira.
In Machang, the warning includes low-lying areas along Sungai Kelantan, such as Kampung Pangkal Durian and Kampung Kolam Abu. Similarly, in Tanah Merah, the warning applies to zones near Sungai Kelantan, including Kampung Jerangau, Kampung Chekok Ipoh, Taman Kiara, Kampung Belimbing, and Kampung Kerilla.
PRABN also reminded residents that flooding may occur earlier or later than forecast, urging those in affected areas to remain vigilant and adhere to instructions from the authorities.
