Power Distribution Issue Causes Penang Hill Funicular Train Service Disruption

Penang: The Penang Hill funicular train service experienced a temporary disruption yesterday due to a power distribution issue that affected the motor drive, as reported by the Penang Hill Corporation (PBBPP). The disruption was caused by a foreign object, which led to a series of safety measures being activated. According to BERNAMA News Agency, the incident began at 2:15 pm, necessitating a complete shutdown of essential services to replace the affected power unit, as the system operates on high voltage. Visitor safety remained a top priority, with immediate transportation provided for visitors to return to the Penang Hill Lower Station using both funicular cars at reduced speeds and the Penang Hill jeep service. The technical teams conducted a thorough inspection of the system, allowing the funicular service to resu me normal operations by 6:30 pm. PBBPP expressed its apologies for any inconvenience caused and appreciated the patience and understanding of all visitors and stakeholders throughout the disruption. The corporation also extended its gratitude to all parties involved in providing assistance. PBBPP reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest safety and operational standards for all visitors to Penang Hill.
