Rome: The new Pope Leo XIV on Monday urged the media to promote peace, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported. Meeting media professionals in Rome, he urged them to promote a kind of communication that ‘does not seek consensus at all costs, does not use aggressive words, does not follow the culture of competition, and never separates the search for truth from the love with which we must humbly seek it.’
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the pope emphasized the importance of rejecting hostile discourse by stating, ‘We must say no to the war of words and images; we must reject the paradigm of war.’ He highlighted that the media should focus on fostering dialogue that brings about understanding and harmony.
Additionally, Pope Leo XIV touched upon the rapidly growing application of AI in various sectors, stressing that its enormous potential requires “responsibility and discernment to ensure that it can be used for the good of all, so that it can benefit all of humanity.” He urged for ethical considerations in the development and deployment of AI technologies to ensure their positive impact on society.
